Become a fan by visiting us at: - Rain Barrel & Compost Bin SalePosted on: 2010-04-08Washington County is partnering with the Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM) to offer rain barrels and compost bins at discounted prices. By composting organic waste (vegetable scraps and yard waste) and capturing rain water from the roof, residents can reduce the need for expensive fertilizers and reduce their water bill.
Residents of Washington County are eligible for a $15 discount on one compost bin per household (while rebate funds last). Residents may purchase additional bins at the regular price. Compost bins and rain barrels must be pre-ordered on RAM's Web site, www.recycleminnesota.org. To receive the discount, residents must choose the Woodbury pick-up location and enter the discount code Washington. Pre-ordered compost bins and rain barrels will be available for pick up at the Washington County Environmental Center at 4039 Cottage Grove Drive in Woodbury, on specified dates in May and June.
Washington County is not offering a discount for the purchase of a rain barrel, but discounts may apply for residents living within the Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District.
